Welcome to the Police Athletic League of Jacksonville (“JaxPAL”) website. By accessing or using jaxpal.org (the “Site”) or registering for any JaxPAL programs, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following Terms and Conditions.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using this Site, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age or are accessing the Site under the supervision of a parent or guardian. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services.

2. Program Registration & Fees

  • Accuracy: You agree to provide accurate and complete information during the registration process for any athletic or educational programs.
  • Payment: All fees (registration, uniforms, etc.) must be paid in full according to the specific program’s deadline.
  • Refund Policy: Generally, registration fees are non-refundable once the season or program has commenced. Exceptions may be made at the sole discretion of JaxPAL administration for medical reasons with a doctor’s note.

3. Code of Conduct

JaxPAL maintains a zero-tolerance policy for unsportsmanlike conduct. By registering, parents, guardians, and participants agree to:

  • Respect all coaches, officials, and law enforcement officers.
  • Abide by the “24-Hour Rule” before discussing grievances with coaching staff.
  • Refrain from foul language, violence, or harassment at any JaxPAL-sanctioned event.
  • Violation: JaxPAL reserves the right to suspend or terminate participation privileges without refund for any individual who violates these standards.

4. Liability Waiver & Medical Release

Participation in sports (e.g., Football, Boxing, Basketball) involves inherent risks of physical injury.

  • Waiver: By registering a minor for JaxPAL programs, the parent/guardian assumes all risks and releases JaxPAL, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO), and its staff from any liability for injuries sustained during participation.
  • Emergency Care: You authorize JaxPAL staff to seek emergency medical treatment for your child if you cannot be reached.

5. Media Release

JaxPAL frequently takes photos and videos of programs for promotional and social media use. By participating, you grant JaxPAL a royalty-free, perpetual license to use the likeness of the participant in marketing materials (digital or print) unless a written “Opt-Out” request is submitted to JaxPAL administration.

6. Use of the Site

  • Intellectual Property: All content on jaxpal.org, including logos, text, and images, is the property of JaxPAL and may not be used without written permission.
  • Prohibited Acts: Users may not attempt to disrupt the Site’s security or use the Site for any unlawful purpose.

7. Background Checks for Volunteers

All volunteers and coaches must undergo a mandatory background screening. JaxPAL reserves the right to deny any volunteer application based on the results of this screening to ensure the safety of our youth.

8. Third-Party Links

Our Site may contain links to third-party websites (e.g., payment processors or sports league management tools). JaxPAL is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of these external sites.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, JaxPAL shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of your use of the Site or participation in our programs.

10. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Duval County, Florida.

11. Changes to Terms

JaxPAL reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to the Site. Your continued use of the Site or programs signifies your acceptance of the updated Terms.
